Five Minute Cake-In-A-Cup

Be warned, this is dangerous… In the instant gratification kind of way. It is probably a good thing I don’t have a microwave. Recipe is from dizzy-dee.com.

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons cake flour
4 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa
1 Egg
3 Tablespoons milk
3 Tablespoons oil
1 Mug

Instructions:
Mix flour, sugar and cocoa. Mix flour, sugar and cocoa. Spoon in 1 egg. Pour in milk and oil, and mix well. Put in microwave for 3 minutes on maximum power (1000watt). Wait until it stops rising and sets in the mug. Tip contents out of mug onto saucer and enjoy!

I’d probably top this sucker off with some whipped cream and call it delish. If anyone tries it, lemme know.

  1. I haven’t tried this (though I printed it out a few days ago and want to!), but just wanted to note that if you can’t find cake flour in your grocery store (I can’t find it anywhere around here!), there’s a substitution for it. You can just use all-purpose flour, but apparently it makes a much denser cake, or so I’ve read. 🙂

  2. oh man… once you make the cake flour you’re going to have so much left you’ll have to make a ton of these cakes in a mug! YIKES! It’s a vicious cycle! Oh my aching hips! LOL
Actually this looks like a great recipe and one that the ingredients are almost always on hand. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thanks Robyn – I’ll have to check out yours. I found this one through StumbleUpon. It reminded me of the NoPudge brownies (you can make individual brownies).

    So, denser cake… like brownies?

  4. Yeah, that‘s the impression I got, like brownies. Which sounds pretty good, too!

Robyn, I have no clue why your comments are marked as SPAM – hopefully it stops soon. And yes. Brownies = yummy, too 😉

  5. I tried this, and was unimpressed, there ended up being huge bubble/voids, and the cake was too chewy, and dry, and not as much chocolatey flavor.
