Gnats in the House

Does anyone else have gnats in the house? I don’t know what the deal is but suddenly we have an abundance of them and I don’t know what to do to get rid of them. At first I thought it was a fruitfly issue (found a way overripe orange in the fruit bowl), but after I threw that out, they remained. Is it seasonal?

I can’t drink a glass of wine without covering it up. Maybe I’ll use that as a trap.

I found this discussion in a quick google search, but am looking for something (hopefully) without using chemicals.

Any suggestions?

  1. One thing I found

“Through this research we have found the making a simple fruit fly trap in a juice glass with a couple of DROPS of apple cider vinegar and a paper funnel “plugged into” the top of the glass works well in trapping those adult breeders and egg-layers, but finding out where the eggs are hatching is quite another thing!!”

  2. Thanks ladies. I’ll check those out. Since yesterday I’ve had a glass of wine sitting out, covered with plastic wrap, and a few holes poked in. It picked up a couple of the buggers, but they were still ALIVE in there. So, I poured a little oil in and within a few minutes they were dead. Since then I have half a dozen in the glass. I made another “wine trap” and am hoping to get rid of some more.
