Life of Pi

by Yann Martel

Pi and his family live in India; his father is a zookeeper. They decide to move to Canada and on the way, the ship sinks. Pi is alone, aboard a lifeboat, with a hyena, orangutan, zebra and tiger, shipwrecked for 200 some days.

The "twist" of the story doesn't come until the end where the reader is left to decide, I guess, what the true rendition of his story was.

I read this because I was told, more than once, if I liked The Secret Life of Bees, I would like this one. I've yet to figure out the parallels. It was good, interesting and the question at the end makes it a memorable book... but it was slow at times. I don't know if I would put it on my Must Read list, but it was an interesting book to experience.

Read again? Maybe, but doubtful.
