Knitting Scarf - progress

This is what I'm working on right now (as well as 2 discloths that are not holding my interest at the moment). It's a striped scarf, done with making a pattern up along the way, because apparently I'm having pattern issues lately. I don't feel like sticking with one.

I did make a point of writing down the pattern, though, because I don't want to forget it.

The only problem I'm having with the scarf is weaving in the ends of the yarn when I switch colors. I've never learned how to do that. I attempted it twice, but now I live in fear of having it unravel on me. That would be sad. I have to find some good weaving instructions.
