1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)? You know, it is really very rare that I can every list a favorite of anything. I read a lot of different things, ranging from classic novels to trashy beach reads. And I enjoy them all.
2. What is your favorite novel? Here we go with the "favorite" thing again. And again, I don't have a solitary favorite. But, I can list 5 good books to read:
3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!) Sho' do.
Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read? Definitely The Bible. I've read parts of it, but not all. I'm working on that, though.
5. What are you currently reading? The Great Gasby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Orville Redenbacher Honey and Butter Microwave Popcorn.
This popcorn was on sale at Wal Mart for $2, so I just picked up a box to try. Yesterday I made it for the first time to bring with me (and smuggle in) to a movie at the theatre.
First off, lemme tell you that it stinks. It stank while it popped, it stank up my van, while in my purse. It stank up the theatre. When I was done with the bag, I had to wad it up because the smell was really getting to me. It was a sweet, fake-honey kind of smell, and it was overwhelming.
However, the popcorn wasn't so bad. It tasted very sweet, sort of like honey and buttery. It was what I would expect from a popcorn labled "Honey and Butter" - no more, no less.
I don't think it will be added to my shopping list of foods again, though. Mainly for 2 reasons:
1 - I don't normally buy popcorn (anymore) that isn't light.
2 - It stinks to all high hell. My microwave still has that...smell to it. It's bothering me. And now I have to clean it.

Celebrations. Interesting tips on how to make life more festive. I'm partial to this March 2003 tip. I do it all the time. Well, up to the warm, sunny thing, I guess. I'm not much of a "sun person" so I'll just imagine myself in some sunny place, but in the shade... Yeah. That will work for me.
Cinnamuffin Candle Co. Mmmm. Take a look at those candles. Take a look at these muffin candles. They look like actual muffins. I bet they smell absolutely heavenly. I'm going to have to order one. Or two. Yum.
Does anyone remember Stephen Williams from Real World Seattle? He was the one that smacked that girl - the one who was gay or not gay (nobody knew, but we all suspected...)
Well, he's been arrested for prostitution, of all things. Naughty Stephen. Hmmmm.
Ally's Wonderland - Adorable icons and wallpaper.
Not to mention (Lord knows Momma loves her some pigs...) PIGGYLAND!! (Too bad there's nothing there that I can read and no piggy stuff for me to play with. How sad.)
For the 2nd season of The Anna Nicole Show, Anna's looking for a man. Anna, Anna, fabulous Anna. You're so outrageous.
Recently, I read a book about her titled, Great Big Beautiful Doll: The Anna Nicole Smith Story. It was good. It read just like a freaking magazine. She's an interesting person, that Anna. I really liked the book and enjoyed reading it. The people who wrote it, in my opinion, weren't the best writers, but they did give you an interesting glimpse into Anna's life.
But, then again, so did the Christmas special that aired on televison. Oy.
Gosh. I know when I'm desperate for something to munch on when I start to snack on my kid's Hot Cheetos with my Rolling Rock.
For anyone else who is interested in the train wreck that is Michael Jackson, Dateline will be having a 2-hour special tomorrow (02.17.03 @ 9pm ET) night called "Michael Jackson Unmasked."
I watched the first special on him and can tell you without a doubt that he is one of the freakiest, weirdest mo-fos out there. Watching that special only made my opinion of him more concrete: He's crazy whacked. Sure, during the part where he talked about the abuse he had to endure, my heart went out to him. But watching him with his kids was not like watching a father and son. It was like watching a 13 year old teenager that thought being a father would be a "cool thing."
The one question that I still ponder is this: Who on earth still looks up to him / thinks he's a role model? (Okay, besides Corey Feldman) How freaking desperate do you have to be?

I recently bought this book for my kitty-loving twins. It's a cute book about a grown up cat who's owner (a little girl) gets a new (annoying) kitty. The older cat doesn't really like the younger one and takes off outside to get away from him. Bla,bla. But in the end, he tolerates and maybe likes (!!!) the wee kitten.
My 3yo enjoys this book, and I am pretty happy with it as well. It's easy to read and the pictures are good enough to tell the story by itself.
A while back, in the forums, honebee mentioned that you can order online from Schwan's, and then have it delivered. I completely spaced out on it until I was posting today and happened upon the thread. I think I'm going to give this a try. I'm hating going to the grocery store more and more. Maybe this would alleviate some of that.
Okay, so for those of you are all romantic and stuff, Happy Valentine's Day.
For me, it's just a frenzy of making Valentine's the night before and sending them off with the kids. This year I have 3 kids in school. Only one had store-boughten cards (Gramma picked up some Spiderman ones). The other two I made cards for.
I don't mind kids celebrating Valentine's Day in school. As long as when they hand out cards, they hand one out to EVERY dang kid in the class. None of that "give them to whomever you want to" shit for me. That leaves some kids with a box full of dead air. If you don't want to do it - don't. Fine. But it's an all or nothing thing with me.
If you got this email Stop Terrorism: Boycott Middle Eastern Oil (like I did), you might want to take a look at this before actively boycotting and thinking you're "doing something about terrorism."
Although, it does arouse my interest, I am doubtful of the credibility. People. If you really *want* other people to listen to what you are saying, don't (repeat: DO NOT) send it in the form of an email unless you do some research on it.
Okay. I really, really want this dude (Ruben Studdard) to be the next American Idol
He's got talent, charisma and he's so different from what you'd think comes to people's minds when they say American Idol. Go, Ruben, go!! (Now I just need some American Idol goodies)
Okay, so I'm getting this all set up here, redesigning and all. I decided to post the new contest so that people could start entering. Yay, yay, yay!! There's a lot of re-tooling that needs to be done, but I'm so ready to ditch the old index and put this new one in.
Last month, the contest was sponsored by Endearing Images and the prize was an adorable picture. So, Sherry won it and said I could share it here. (Yay!!) Rebecca took her adorable baby and made this:
Is that not absolutely beautiful? I'm thinking this would be a neat thing to suprise someone with. All you need it a photograph and Rebecca does her magic with it. Wow, huh?
