Chick Chat Questions | Main | Colonial House May 17, 2004Happy Meals for AdultsMcDonalds unleashes their Go Active! Happy Meal for adults. From the site: "McDonald’s first-ever “Go Active! Happy Meal” for adults includes the choice of a Premium Salad, bottled water or drink of choice, a Stepometer™ and a fun, informative booklet, created by Oprah’s personal trainer, Bob Greene, that provides walking and exercising tips." I guess the Stepometer is the toy, eh? I went through the drive-thru today and it was $5.08, I believe, for the meal. The ad picture featured Dasani water, which I personally dislike - I'd rather drink the water from McD's gun. But, you can substitute that with one of their yummy Diet Cokes. I swear they've got the best Diet Coke in the world. If only they served liquor - I'm sure a brandy and Coke would taste so fantastic if the Coke came from a McD gun. I went way off the point here, didn't I?

I wrote in my diary about the adult happy meals on Friday... Silly things...Seems as though a lot of diarists concur with you on the McDonald's diet coke issue ...I agree as well, Especially on hot summer mornings... a breakfast burrito & a diet coke. yum !

Ha. Lana - I went back and read your entry. So true, I wonder how many more people will go for a salad now that it's packaged all "pretty."
You know, it is funny, because they are marketing the "get active" thing. As if people who eat off the rest of the menu (burgers, fries, etc.) wouldn't benefit from it as well. Ha.
I guess they don't want to market the salads as a healthier option because that would imply the other stuff was garbage.

i've been wanting to get one of those meals just for the nifty little walking thing (yeh yeh so i'm too cheap to buy one on its own). i haven't eaten at McD's for years but got a salad there (its the only place to eat at the Children's Museum Boston). the salad wasn't half bad. i don't like Dasani water either, it has salt added to it but its owned by Coke so thats what they have. they should sell nips at the counter... brandy or rum for your cokes, peppermint schnapps for sprite... i'm rambling...

I think adding a pedometer to a healthy meal is one of the best things McDonald's has ever done. Pedometers are great motivators. If this is the first step in overhauling their image, then my hat is off to them.
/partial to Wendy's salads...
I hear you about the Diet Coke, too. The same tired joke people make about those who get the big burger and big fries and diet drinks at the fast food places don't realize that even though the big greasy meals aren't that great for us, we're at least saving 300 more calories getting the diet drink. I guess it's more fun to make fun of people for doing things that don't make sense on the surface. It always helps to dig a little deeper.

Glad I am not the only one that dislikes Dasani, it has always tasted kind of like glue to me. I don't like fast food all that much anyway :)
