Here's a little recipe that always brings rave reviews. Might as well post it and share the love, eh?
Amazing Artichoke Dip
14oz. can artichoke hearts - drained & chopped
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
4oz. (1 cup) shredded mozarella cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
dash garlic salt
2 T. chopped green onion (or parsley - I use chives from the garden when available)
Heat oven to 350. Combine ingrediants and place in casserole dish. Bake uncovered for 20 - 30 min. or until slightly browned & bubbly. Serve hot with crackers, bread, veggies - whatever . Enjoy!!
Jeannine sent me a link to this Draw a pig personality test. It was fun. My pig looked kinda goofy. You can see it here (but don't look at mine until after you do yours or it will spoil it).
Looking for something to do this summer? Check out Drive-Ins.com and see if there are any theatres in your area.
We've always planned on going to a drive-in movie, but for one reason or another never do. Contemplating one tonight, though. But... I can't see spending 40 bucks to go to a movie we don't even want to see just for the drive-in experience. I think we might wait until there is something we'd actually like to see.
The Daily Kitten. In case ya need your kitty fix!!
Here's some soap, if ya like. Click on them to go to the Gallery page for a larger view.
From L-R there's a rebatch, a rebatch, and then misc. soaps (Oatmeal, Milk & Honey and the rounds, and Apple Pie). I love making soap!!
I started a new book, I Know This Much Is True, by Wally Lamb. I've been wanting to read it forever, and have had it tucked away for years. Everyone tells me, "You gotta read it!!" But every time I finished a book and went to look for it I couldn't find it. This time, though, I went to the stash of books in the back of my closet (I have a few of those Rubbermaid tubs full of books.
Shut up.
I used to have a running list of the books I own (so that I wouldn't buy two of the same book - has happened more than once), but that list is in dire need of updating.
At any rate, the book is good. Long, too, and I kind of like that. It is very detailed. Summer is always a nice reading time, too. Car trips, at the cabin, camping. Love to have me some books with me.
Any suggestions for a good read? What are you reading?
After hearing so many good things about this book I finally dug it out and read it. I figured it was long and would take me all summer to read. Nope. Sped right through it.
It is a story of twins brothers, one who is schizoprenic and one not, focusing on the effects on the unsick twin. It is a very detailed book, with parts that go back to childhood and a whole manuscript that tells his life story (which I enjoyed reading).
I'd definitely reccomend this book The characters were vivid and real. On a side note, his detail/style of writing reminds me of Stephen King. This book was SO much better than the other one I read by him, She's Come Undone.
Date Finished: June 11, 2005
So, after visiting with my brother, I google up some information about microwave ovens. Are they bad for you? Is there anyone out there that stopped using theirs? If you scroll down to the bottom you can find the Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven.
I donno. Makes ya think.
Go here to print a coupon for a FREE box of tea. Go quick though, because the page goes down on the 18th.
Thanks Barb!!
I am happy to say the carnival for our school is over. Myself and another woman co-chaired on it and have been working on it for months. It was a decent day with decent weather (it rained the last couple hours, but had been beautiful all day).
My feet were killing me by the end of the day, though. My daughter had taken my good shoes (they were hers, but she said she didn't want them and they fit me great) and I had to wear a pair of hers. They are cute shoes, but not so kind to the feet.
After it was over, me and my friend (the co-chair) went for some nachos and beers. It was a nice way to end off a chaotic day. I only have a few things left to do (figure out how much we spent/made, that stuff) before I can officially call it "done" - but I can already feel the relief off my shoulders.
So what's everyone doing for Mother's Day? We have no plans, actually. The kids brought some super cute stuff home from school, you know the "Mom you're great because..." I always like that. I made sure we had some bread and milk and eggs so I don't have to struggle for breakfast stuff. But beyond that - we're just chillin'.
Maybe we'll go to a movie, but I doubt it. I'd like to just chill ane enjoy the day with the family. What about you? Any plans? Anything you're doing for your mother?
I got kind of bored with my celly and decided to try making it a little more... pretty. Not wanting to spend much money or time (compulsive thing you know, these projects), I picked up some beads at Hobby Lobby and used some glue I had sitting around.
I started with the circle on the face of the phone before doing anything too elaborate. It held up pretty good (it has been about a week and nothing has fallen off yet), so maybe I will add to it. I had to pick some of the glue away to clean it up.
I've been jumping between feeling productive and feeling crappy. Not sure if it is going to turn into feeling even crappier, or will be one of those things that passes. The twins both had low-grade fevers and felt like crap for about 12 hours, but were fine the next day.
I hate feeling like crap, though. It just annoys me more than anything.
At least I browned the beef that I've been meaning to brown. That will be good for about 2 meals (chili and spaghetti), so that's something. I made some calls I've been meaning to make. Mailed a package (well, sent it with my mother to drop off when she stopped by), threw in a load of laundry. Now I feel like curling up in bed. But I can't and won't.
It is pretty cold in the house, too. Supposed to be Spring here, but we've got little bouts of sleet and snow over the past 24 hours. It is supposed to steadily warm up after today but since I'm a HUGE fan of holding off until our nose hairs freeze before turning on the heat, we will shiver through tonight. I turned the heat off way back in March and don't plan on turning that puppy on until December again.
