I love the Max & Ruby stories but the tv show has been banned from our house...not by me, but my husband who says Ruby annoys him and he wants to committ bunnicide whenever it's on.
my 2 year old daugher loves max and ruby when she is hyper sad mad or anything at all she will stop just to watch it on tv i wish i could find it on videos
I have a question. Do Max and Ruby have parent's? It seems that Ruby acts like the mother, but where are they're parent's at? yes, I have to agree, Ruby's voice does get a little much for us too.
My 3 year old loves this show too! When she is happy, mad or sad-- Max & Ruby totally boosts her mood. She laughs and is in awe during the entire show!!! I wish it were longer! And a movie to purchase. I taped a bunch back to back and i pop it in the VCR and it totally occupies her. The show is adorable!!! Anyone know if there are movies to purchase or dolls?
Below is info that the marketing dept sent me when i regarding in more info on max & ruby mercendise.

Thank you for your interest in Max & Ruby product. Max and Ruby plush dolls and t-shirts will be available this June exclusively through the Nick Jr web site at www.Nickjr.com. They will then be available in the general market this fall. There is no movie planned, however home video will be available this fall as well.
My 2 y/o son loves Max and Ruby as well. He was always asking for Bubby (Ruby) so often, I've had to pop a tape in the VCR and tape each every episode. Now whenever he asks, I just run the tape and he calms down and sits quietly for as much as 45 minutes (2 episodes).
I have noted about the absent of parents as well, but I figure the presence of Grandma compensates for the lack of parents. The one thing I am concerned about are the "little white lies" Max tells on occasion.
Such as when Ruby asks him if he has a froggie in his pocket (Ruby's Teaparty), Max says no, until the frog croaks from his back pocket. I do hope my son doesnt tell me any white lies.
I also find Ruby's voice to be a little much. It seems like they have 2 voices for her. My sister just loves the show. It shows great lessons and teaches kids the right ways.
Nick Jr. has taken Max and Ruby out of their lineup and I'm so disappointed! My son LOVES this show and he likes the books. It's an easy show for a 3-year old to follow. Yes, I've wondered about Ruby and Max's parents too, but it adds to the simplicity and is not complicated with "sub-plots" .... it focuses on the relationship between siblings. And, in this day and age, sometimes a grandparent is the parent figure, just like in the show.
My 2-1/2 yr old love max and ruby. I just pre-ordered the "Max and Ruby Christmas" Video from Amazon.com. Its under 12.00. If your kids are like mine it will save alittle santiy to have them on hand.
I've seen the show and enjoy watching it. Boys will be boys. Sure Max has really loud toys and becomes a pain, however Ruby does keep things in order. But you are right on a mother and father should be in the house as well, unless Ruby is the mother and she's short for her age. Now here's a few funny moments. When Ruby goes to the candy store to help out with the display, Ruby just has to taste all the candies to get the display just right, however Max is given fruit instead of candy and he uses it to create his own display, while Ruby gets a tummy ache from eating too many cadies. Or upon Ruby taking Max to a department store for a new dress, Max gets his bunny eyes on a dragon shirt, and although he's wearing it, he somehow gets a free icecream and manages to drop it on the shirt and Ruby must pay for the shirt instead of the new dress. And the time the Ruby forms a secret club and makes a sign telling Max to go away. At the end Max is in Ruby's room and upon being asked by Ruby on the sign's meaning, Max points to Ruby and says You and slams the door in Ruby's Face.
My little girl loves Ruby and Max - I work full time and so she misses the show during the day. We have recorded a couple of the shows off television and she watches them ALL the time. Does anyone know of how I can purchase videos/DVD?
Amazon.com has some videos available and they are less expensive than the NickJr. site. I just ordered the Christmas video.
My 2 year old loves Max and Ruby. My husband and I have often joked about where in the world the parents are....and why the little boy rabbit, Roger seems incapable of saying anything besides "Uh-huh," and "Uh, uh"!
I know I know I know...a dad shouldn't be posting here, but the whereabouts of Max and Ruby's parents is a topic of humourous speculation between my wife and I from time to time. We really only see Max and Ruby for a portion of the day; while there is no mention of parents save for Grandma, is it beyond reason that two siblings could spend the day playing and interacting without thinking of or mentioning Mom and Dad? Besides, there is much else to make the show worthwhile. The music is great; a throwback to the 40s, and unless I've missed the episode, I've never seen a computer or video game in the house. The children use toys, costumes and endless imagination to amuse themselves. And despite the rather normal amount of sibling conflict, there is obvious love and support shown by both siblings toward one another. Hard to find fault with that. Oh yeah, and our 2 year old son enjoys the show too!
Rick, dads are welcome to post here any time :) You crack me up - I've also wondered where the parents are. When I first happened upon the show I thought Ruby was the mom!!
I'm having a heck of a time finding Max & Ruby on Nick jr. during any decent time. We caught it once at about 5:30/6:00 am and every since the my 2 1/2 year old son wants to watch the "bummy show" every morning before school.. I have to tape it from cable at 3:30 AM just so he can watch it at 6:00. He can't get enough of it, I can't find it anywhere else.
My 3 year old daughter loves the show as well. We had her birthday cake with Max & Ruby on it. I am like everyone else. I can't find anything toys games whatever anywhere. Why can't they have them in Wal-Mart. That would be great. Like all the other toys. Dora, Spongebob, Blues clues. If anyone knows where to find toys or crafts or games or anything please let us know.
Rating Key (for reviews):
= Yuck. Won't be buying or trying that again.
- Not too bad, not too good. Lived up to expectations for me.
- Yay. Love it. Reccomend it.

I notice that Ruby's voice has changed. Both voices are annoying in my opinion. My little sister just loves the show.
