Memorial Day Parade

In case you didn't make it to your own Memorial Day parade this year (or didn't want to, or just like pictures), here's some from the parade here in Madison. Well, actually it is Monona, but who cares. Close enough. We go to this one nearly every year. The kids love it because they get more candy than they do on Halloween. Although, I'll admit, one tossed his bag in the trash within a half-hour of leaving. No kid needs that much candy anyway. The fun is in catching it. And letting your mother eat the Bit-O-Honey candies from your bag.

Here's the vets, standing around waiting for the parade to start. They passed a flask, smoked cigarettes and cracked some jokes to kill some time.

It was so very hot I didn't think I'd make the walk to my car. My capri pants felt as heavy as one of those protective "blankets" they give you when you go in for an x-ray, my back a waterfall of sweat. Momma and heat don't go together.
